The price of Samsung Galaxy S20 in Kenya is in the region of 89,000 shillings. It is available in color Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, Cloud Pink, Cloud White and Aura Red. Its was officially launched in Kenya was on 13th March 2020. Ergonomics and Build
It has an excellent build Samsung Galaxy S20. On it is a metal profile that runs along the entire frame of the phone to set two glasses. These are lass front Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and still Gorilla Glass 6 glass on the back panel. This in turn allows for its fast Qi/PMA wireless charging 15W. Yes Samsung Galaxy S20 can be charged via wireless charging thanks to its glass build. The rear is curved enough on both edges and sides to help improve on the grip. It is quite slippery though so we would suggest you get a back cover for it. The front glass has but a slight curvature which the display does not extend to. A closer look will reveal edge’s curve and the display are separate.
Samsung Galaxy S20 is a compact by standards of nowadays smartphones. It comes with 151.7 x 69.1 x 7.9 mm dimensions and is quite light as compared to the Ultra at only 163 g. Moreover, this flagship smartphone is water resistant as you would expect. And we are talking about IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 1.5 meters for 30 mins). Samsung Galaxy S20 Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy S20 basically has the same hardware (and software) as Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. No doubt the hardware of the S20 is a true top of the range with its Exynos 990 (7 nm+) chipset. The Snapdragon 865 (7 nm+) chipset version is sold in the USA market while the former is the Global version. So yes that is that. Alongside Exynos 990 Samsung Galaxy S20 also comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory made in UFS 3.1 technology (extremely fast) and a Mali G77 MP11 GPU. At this point I might also want to mention one thing just so you do not buy whilst unaware. There is a more expensive 5G variant of S20. It is available but at this time it is the 4G model that is most available in Kenya.
It is now customary of S smartphones to find FM radio and the 3.5 mm audio jack not included. Still on matters connectivity Galaxy S20 offers LTE up to 2000 Mbps, Wi-Fi ax (standard 6), Bluetooth 5.0 and an NFC chip. And by now we very much know NFC on Samsung translates to Samsung Pay (Visa, MasterCard certified). By the way this one runs Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI 2.1 interface.
Revolutionary Cameras
The ToF sensor is only available on the Plus and Ultra versions. Now that we have that out of the way we can continue. The main camera of Samsung Galaxy S20 is the optically stabilized 12 megapixel f/1.8 . We also see a 64 megapixel shooter which has that 3x zoom feature. Finally the third lens is its 12 megapixel wide angle camera lens. The camera performance is extremely good just as we hoped for. Even in low light the photos are a glowing representation of what meets the eye. And sometimes, even what they eye cannot catch. HDR mode on Galaxy S20 is perfect in managing strong lights and preserving detail.
Then there is the interesting zoom which sees the switch take place at 2x and not at 3x. Because of it you get great quality at 3x due to a mix of 2x zoom and high sensor resolution. Then the wide-angle camera is also great and it works best with HDR. A splendid 10 megapixel front facing camera you will also get within the display. It actually is underneath the display. That is below the glass. Samsung has also revolutionized smartphone photography and video recording with S20 models. Yes you can shoot 8K videos up to 4320p@24fps with Samsung Galaxy S20. The selfie camera on the other hand is capable of shooting 4K videos at2160p@30/60fps.
Revolutionary Display
Samsung Galaxy S20 is equipped with a 6.2-inch panel with QHD + resolution (1440 x 3200 pixels) made from pure Dynamic AMOLED technology. I might as well rest my comments at this except this in not everything there is to say about S20’s display. There is one more big news of this new generation of S series smartphones. Namely that they come with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This will guarantee what we love to call visual fluency, speed and the so satisfying content refresh rate.
